How about?
* Exploring the city’s attractions on your own
* Visiting great museums: National Gallery of Canada, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Canadian War Museum, Bank of Canada/Currency Museum, Science and Technology Museum, etc.
* (Optional, everyone is welcomed to join in) We will hike around the Mackenzie King Estate and savour the peace and tranquility of the estate and surrounding trails. Note: As Prime Minister of Canada for a record number of years - close to 22 - William Lyon Mackenzie King led the government during a period of intense development. From the roaring twenties to the atomic age. He was the country's most influential political force.
Plan for the day:
* 10 am, we meet by the yellow bus at the exit of De la Savane Metro (8261, boul. Décarie; rue de Sorel). It is an excellent meeting point for getting on a highway towards Ottawa
* about 11 – 11:30 am, we stop for a bite to eat / washroom break
* about 12:30 pm, we arrive in downtown of Ottawa
* the bus continues to Mackenzie Estate
* 7 pm, we meet by our bus and go for something to eat nearby
* 9 pm, we leave Ottawa
* about 10 – 10:30 pm, we stop for a short coffee / washroom break
* about 11 pm, we arrive back at De la Savane Metro (the last train for downtown leaves at 1:03 am on Saturdays)
Please note: To avoid downtown traffic, we will be leaving from the Metro De La Savane (there is a lot of free parking nearby). We will also pick up members at the YMCA, Pointe-Claire, West Island around 10:30 AM. On the way back, we plan on being in West Island at 10:30 PM and back at Metro De La Savane at 11:00 PM.
* We are providing the full transportation. In case we need to change from the bus transportation to carpooling, we will compensate drivers for the gas.
Price includes: the round trip to Ottawa, the hike at Mackenzie Estate, map of Ottawa, info sheet with Ottawa’s attractions and fun with new friends.
